Expert Opinion
Today I spoke with the President of Gators for a Sustainable Campus about environmental-friendly fashions. I started out asking about the benefits of organic cotton. Although he did not know much on the subject, he told me what he could.
He said that traditionally grown cotton has a lot of harmful pesticides compared to organic cotton. Generally, growing organic cotton is more environmental friendly.
I asked if he knew anything about low impact dyes and he was not sure of the benefits. Though, I read on the American Apparel Web site that they use less water, so it benefits our water supply.
I asked him if he thought “going green” was becoming more popular, and he believed a lot more people are becoming proactive. He believes now it is seen as a positive thing. The trend is increasing due to an increase in knowledge.
